Welcome to the freakshow:

Last night I finally had enough energy to get off my ass and go out and about in Dallas. First stop: my friend Allen's piercing and tattoo shop, Obscurities, where I hung out and waited for Allen, and of course bought some jewelry. Allen and I went to dinner at a place called Chuy's, where I had a tasty meal that involved Tex as well as Mex. Afterwards, we headed to Deep Ellum to see my friends performing in the Bros. Grim Side Show. The show was great, and if you're anywhere fucking near Dallas you'd better get your ass down to see it or I'll beat you to death with spoons. Anyway, it was good to see Erik as usual, and his part of the show was quite entertaining as always. It was also good to meet Jesus after hearing so many nice things about him.

All in all, it was a very nice evening. As I told Allen, good food, good company, and people breathing fire and hammering nails into their faces. Can't get any better than that!

Seriously, though, go see the show. I wasn't kidding about beating you up.

Rum, sodomy, and the lash:

So, I'm in Texas right now. Dallas, to be precise. Flew in yesterday on a flight that had to be all changed around because my trip plans changed. I was originally in a first class seat but got rebooked into coach on the same flight. Poo. But I was sitting next to a cute Aussie girl, so that made it bearable. The two loud-ass girls behind us who were playing DVDs without headphones (!) kind of sucked, but I just imagined them as the victims in tentacle rape porn and I felt better.

I'll be in Dallas until Friday. I'm actually staying in Irving - just a few miles outside of Dallas, but there's fucking nothing to do around here. It's just businesses and country clubs and crap like that. Plus, you can't buy booze here! Blue laws and I mix like oil and water, so I'm going to drive into Dallas proper tonight or tomorrow night and go visit my friend's piercing/tattoo shop. Anyway, I fly out to Philly on Friday. Getting to see the boy again in such a short period of time is a Good Thing. I also got confirmation that I'm scheduled to go to training just outside of Philly the week of Sept. 27. Lots of trips to Philly make me a happy happy girl.

In other news, I just heard about the Pogues doing a mini-tour in the UK and Ireland this December. Shane MacGowan is one of my heroes, mainly because his lifetime consumption of alcohol has got to be nearing the volume of the Atlantic ocean and he still manages to stand upright occasionally. Fares on Aer Lingus to Dublin in December are super cheap, so of course I'm thinking of going. I realllllly want to take the boy with me, but he can't take vacation during December. So I'm torn - see one of my heroes performing live in my ancestral homeland before he inevitably keels over from liver failure, or spend the holidays at home and drag the boy kicking and screaming (ha!) to Ireland some other time? Or both? Oh, how I wish they'd announce some tour dates in the States. I gotta see ol' black teeth stumble about on stage at least one more time before his organs liquefy.

Everyday people like you and me:

I'm feeling overly friendtastic at the moment so I think I should tell you how fantastic some of my friends are. I know you know this shit already, but just fucking deal with it, okay? The new boy has turned me into some kind of girl or something so I've gotten extra sappy lately. It's gross, but I suppose that's the curse of having a vagina.

My friend Jim is hot. And he's a really good writer. I only mention the hotness first because what, I just saw his abs less than 48 hours ago and that shit is fresh in my mind. Anyway, go read him, if you aren't already. And proposition him, if you're a hot girl. I have a feeling he's good in bed. You ladies will have to go do some investigative reporting for me.

My friend Alex is hot. And she's a fantastic artist and writer. I mention the hotness first because, I mean fuck, have you seen her photos? That girl is HOT. Go buy her comics and her t-shirts, which you can see modeled on a very ample rack here.

Now my next friend, all you fuckers already know. I'm not going to say that he's hot, because that's like saying my brother is hot or something. And I'm only sorta southern. This guy has a lot of readers already. He has 100x the readers I do. I don't want you to go read his website, as he's undoubtedly in your RSS reader already. I want you to go buy his book. Why, you say? Because it's a really fucking good book. Seriously. I'm a book snob. I wouldn't tell you to spend your hard-earned cash on just any piece of crap. I'll tell you to spend your hard-earned cash on an excellent book. And if you don't buy it, I'll throw spitballs at you when you least expect it.

I'll return to regular blogging soon. I'm becoming sufficiently stress- and angst-ridden to start writing again. Don't forget to hold your breath till I come back! Blue faces turn me on.

Don't hit me!

So I know I have been a baaad little blogger. And I promise I'll be better. I've just been traveling more than any human should.

To make it up to you, here is a photo of me sticking my face in a hot girl's cleavage.

Wheel in the sky:

Every year, on my birthday, the Perseid meteor shower peaks. Usually I can't stay up to see them for whatever reason, but as luck would have it, I should be arriving at the boy's place right around 2 a.m. the morning of my birthday, which is when they're most visible. They're also supposed to be especially bright this year, too. I'm gonna sit outside for a little while and watch them. I think that's a nice way to kick off my 30th birthday, don't you?

P.S. Feel free to buy me presents.

Eyes that burn like cigarettes:

Kinda feeling sick. Have bug bites. Hope I don't have West Nile. Skipped dinner with dear friends last night upon hearing that one (maybe both) of them have strep throat. Illness is trying to keep me down and I just can't have that, so I sucked down a smoothie with an "immune booster" (whatever that means) today to ward off the evil spirits.

Had to change my NYC/Philly plans. New schedule: Philly August 11-17. I'll probably be in NYC for like 4 hours on the 17th, so people who want to make out with me should let me know if they're free for lunch that day and I'll see what I can do.

I'm currently at LinuxWorld in San Francisco. There's a free show being sponsored by the EFF right now. If you like freedom (and not in the bullshit twisted way our current "leaders" have defined), you'll like them. Plus, they have hot people working their booth, and I like hot people.

Tomorrow, more Linux goodness all day long, then a flight home where I'll get to sleep in my own bed for six WHOLE nights before I leave again. My bed rules, especially when my cat is curled up and purring right next to my head. The only thing that would be better would be having the boy there with me. Even though he doesn't purr.

Update: I had to do some wonky deletion/re-adding stuff with this post, and so the comments aren't associated with the right post ID anymore. They're here instead. In other news, I really need to move this blog to Movable Type. Like, now.
